Competition Committee Handles Citizens’ Complaints About Digital Platforms

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Committee and its regional offices continue to promptly review citizens’ complaints related to the operations of digital platform operators and provide solutions to protect consumer rights.

In Fergana Region, a resident of Fergana city, R.I., filed a complaint about a malfunctioning printer purchased through the “UZUM NASIYA” platform at the Mediapark store. Following an inspection, the consumer was provided with a replacement printer.

In Jizzakh Region, a resident of Jizzakh city, E.Z., signed a deferred payment contract worth 5.3 million soms through the “UZUM NASIYA” platform with LLC “MYTEACHER GROUP” for English language courses. The service was not fully delivered. After reviewing the complaint, the contract was canceled, resolving the issue in favor of the consumer.

In Namangan Region, a resident of Chartak district purchased a phone through “UZUM MARKET” under a deferred payment agreement but was dissatisfied with the device quality and low internet speed. The regional office canceled the contract, and the citizen was refunded approximately 1.4 million soms.

In Navoiy Region, a resident of Navoi city, K.M., bought a Samsung Galaxy S24 phone for 11.4 million soms via the BeMarket online platform owned by LLC “UNITEL.” A month later, it was discovered that the device was not registered in the proper registry and was non-functional. Upon K.M.’s complaint, LLC “UNITEL” registered the phone’s IMEI code, and the device was subsequently delivered in working condition.

In Kashkadarya Region, a resident of Karshi district, S.J., purchased a low-quality phone via “UZUM MARKET.” The regional office fully reimbursed the citizen for the product, amounting to 2.1 million soms.

In Khorezm Region, a resident of Gurlan district, A.N., paid 192,000 soms via “UZUM NASIYA” on a deferred payment basis for the online course “Badavlat Ayol.” The course was not conducted. Following the complaint, the contract was canceled, and the amount was refunded to the consumer.

These cases demonstrate the Committee’s active role in safeguarding consumer rights on digital platforms across Uzbekistan.
