Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed A Law “On the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
According to the Law, the Constitutional Court is a permanent body of the judiciary, which hears cases on the constitutionality of acts of the legislative and executive branches.
The Constitutional Court consists of 9 judges of the Constitutional Court, including the chairman and his deputy (previously there were 7 judges).
The list of subjects entitled to appeal to the Constitutional Court includes the following:
Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) - Commissioner for Children's Rights;
National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights;
Commissioner under the President for the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of business entities.
Citizens and legal entities have the right to apply to the Constitutional Court with a complaint about reviewing the constitutionality of a law if the law, in their opinion, violates their constitutional rights and freedoms, does not comply with the Constitution and is applied in a specific case, the consideration of which in court has been completed and all other means of judicial protection exhausted.
The law comes into force on the day of its official publication.
