CIS Session "Rethinking Extended Neighborhood" takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 October 2020, an online session of the CIS "Rethinking the expanded neighborhood" was held. The topic of this session was the revision and invention of the economic structure for India and the CIS regions. This was reported by the press service of the CCI of Uzbekistan.

The future of this VUCA world (instability, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity) requires the creation of a basis for digital communication and strategic trade and investment, using the possibilities of complementarity of the economies of the CIS countries and India. That is why the session discussed the role of excellence in business and the ability to adapt to change.

The session was attended by: Director and Head of FICCI Representative Office in Europe, CIS and Turkey Mr. Rohit Sharma; Secretary General of FICCI Dilip Chenoy, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Ikramov, Deputy Chairman of the Sun Group Mr. Shiv Vikram Khemka, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Global Rus Trade, Head of the Russian branch of the BRICS Women's Business Alliance Anna Tsivileva and others.

At the event, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan A. Ikramov made a speech, where he expressed gratitude to Mr. Shiv Vikram Hemke and the team of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for organizing this event.

A. Ikramov noted that thanks to the new economic policy in the past 3 years, Uzbekistan continues to create a favorable investment environment based on a reliable legal framework and a wide range of guarantees and benefits for investors. Economic liberalization and reforms make Uzbekistan attractive for business and investment. The dynamics of the modern development of Uzbekistan has received international recognition.

It was also noted that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is always ready for cooperation and support from business circles.

The following was the result of cooperation in trade, economic and investment areas in numbers. For example, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and India in January-May amounted to US$107.9 million (exports - US$6.1 million; imports - US$101.8 million).

Export and import structure: chemical products, non-ferrous and ferrous metals, energy and oil products, machinery and equipment, food products, services and so on. There are 281 companies with Indian capital operating in Uzbekistan.

As a result of the event, the parties expressed their hope for long-term and promising cooperation.
