CIS Foreign Ministers hold talks in Astana

Ministers discussed wide-range of issue of cooperation of the CIS in international sphere. The CIS Foreign Ministers approved draft statements of the CIS leaders on the 70th anniversary of creation of the UN, oon fighting international terrorism and appeal of the CIS leaders on 30th anniversary of accident at Chernobyl nuclear plant.

They also discussed draft plan of events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the CIS, plan of events for 2016-2017 within implementation of the strategy of international youth cooperation of the CIS till 2020, as well as plan of events for 2016-2018 on realization of the strategy of developing physical culture and sport in the CIS states till 2020.

Foreign Ministers of the CIS considered information on realization of the inter-governmental programme “Cultural capitals of the CIS” in Turkmenistan in 2016 and activities of the Council of heads of state information agencies of the Commonwealth.

The participants approved drafts of several documents, regulating interaction of the CIS in legal sphere, border cooperation, ecology, prevention and liquidation of consequences of emergency situations. The draft concept of military cooperation of the CIS states till 2020 was approved.

The considered documents will be submitted to consideration to the Council of the heads of states and the Council of heads of governments, taking into account remarks and proposals.

Next session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS states will be held in Moscow, Russia, in April 2016.
