Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 June, a meeting of the Coordinating Council on the problems of sanitary protection of the territories of the CIS member states from the importation and spread of especially dangerous infectious diseases was held.
The event was attended by members of the Coordinating Council, experts from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
The meeting participants discussed the epidemiological situation in the world related to the spread of monkeypox and preventive measures within the framework of the sanitary protection of territories.
It is noted that the monkeypox virus belongs to the first group of pathogenicity. The detection of this disease requires the implementation of measures for sanitary protection. The disease is endemic to the rainforest zone of West and Central Africa. But now this disease is registered in the European region.
The World Health Organization ranks the overall public health risk at the global level as moderate. Smallpox vaccination has been 85% effective in preventing monkeypox in the past.
The members of the Coordinating Council also discussed the draft methodological recommendations "Tactics of organizing and conducting joint international exercises of the SPES of Rospotrebnadzor and specialized anti-epidemic units of the CIS countries to eliminate emergencies in the field of public health of a sanitary and epidemiological nature" and the procedure for forming a register of specialists from specialized institutions of the Commonwealth countries to ensure the possibility of joint work in response to emergencies in the field of public health of a sanitary and epidemiological nature.
During the meeting, the need for information exchange between the CIS member states on emergency situations in the field of public health of a sanitary and epidemiological nature was noted. Issues related to the preparation of joint monographs were discussed.
The next meeting of the Coordinating Council is scheduled to be held in autumn 2022.
