Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China’s leading media - People’s Daily, Xinhua, China Daily, Global Times, BeijingDaily and others published articles on their print and online pages about the meetings at the highest level between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of China Xi Jinping, Dunyo news agency reports.
The publications reported that President Xi Jinping arrived in Uzbekistan on a state visit on 15 September. Fruitful talks were held between the heads of the two countries. The parties thoroughly considered further ways to strengthen the Uzbek-Chinese relations of comprehensive strategic partnership.
“During the meeting, it was noted that last year the trade turnover reached a record US$8 billion, and has increased by more than 30 percent since the beginning of this year,” Chinese media write. - Over the past five years, the volume of investments in the economy of Uzbekistan has exceeded US$10 billion. The five-year program of full-scale economic cooperation is being successfully implemented. Joint projects are being fruitfully implemented in key sectors of the economy and the social sphere.”
As emphasized, China and Uzbekistan should resolutely support each other on issues affecting their fundamental interests, such as sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and so on, accelerate the conjugation of development strategies and promote common development. Cooperation between the two countries should develop at an accelerated pace and bring even more results.
It is reported that following the results of negotiations between the President of Uzbekistan and the President of the People’s Republic of China, a solid package of bilateral documents was adopted. Agreements were signed in the field of trade, economic, investment, financial and technical cooperation on the implementation of priority projects totaling US$15 billion.
The materials emphasize that on the same day, a ceremony was held to solemnly present President Xi Jinping with the highest state award of Uzbekistan - the Oliy Darazhali Dustlik Order for his contribution to strengthening centuries-old ties of friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership, deepening trust and mutual understanding, expanding economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between our peoples.
