China’s Rail Freight Volume Rises in January–September 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — According to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway), the country’s rail freight volume reached 3.03 billion tons in the first nine months of 2025, marking a 3.4% increase compared to the same period last year, Xinhua News Agency reports.
Throughout the reporting period, China’s railway system ensured stable transportation of key cargo categories — including coal, metallurgical raw materials, grain, and other essential goods. Special “green logistics” channels were implemented to enhance transport efficiency and accelerate delivery.
From January to September, railways across China carried 1.553 billion tons of coal, with 1.056 billion tons allocated for power generation.
Shipments of metallurgical raw materials rose by 9.4%, while grain transportation increased by 10.8% year-on-year.
