Chairpersons of the Upper Chambers of Uzbekistan and Belarus Parliaments Meet in Vitebsk

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the official visit of the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Belarus, a meeting took place on September 2 in Vitebsk between the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, and the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Natalia Kochanova.

During the discussion, Natalia Kochanova expressed gratitude to the Uzbek side for jointly preparing the Third Belarus-Uzbek Women’s Business Forum, emphasizing its importance for expanding bilateral cooperation. She noted that the forum will serve as a platform for signing new contracts and agreements, contributing to the economic development of both countries and strengthening friendly ties between their peoples.

The Speaker highlighted the importance of signing agreements between youth organizations during the forum, underlining the priority of youth initiatives and established contacts through women’s associations. She expressed Belarus’ readiness to cooperate across all spheres — from the economy to culture, education, science, and healthcare. Planned joint initiatives include educational and tourism forums, as well as Belarusian Culture Days in Uzbekistan.

Natalia Kochanova noted that approximately four thousand Uzbek students are currently studying in Belarusian educational institutions and expressed hope that the guests would have the opportunity to explore the cultural heritage of the Vitebsk region.

In turn, Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva thanked the Belarusian side for the warm welcome and expressed interest in developing cooperation between the regions of the two countries. She emphasized that the visit to Vitebsk and participation in the forum took place in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect, stressing that Belarus-Uzbek relations are characterized by partnership and good neighborliness.

The sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding interparliamentary contacts and actively cooperating in socio-economic, humanitarian, and cultural spheres.

At the conclusion of the meeting, in an expanded format, Natalia Kochanova and Tanzila Narbayeva signed a protocol to the memorandum of cooperation (establishing an interparliamentary commission), as well as a joint plan of events for 2026–2027.
