Chairperson of Uzbekistan’s Senate Attends Women Parliamentarians’ Forum in Geneva

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva, took part in the Forum of Women Parliamentarians held in Geneva as part of the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The forum, themed “Solidarity and Inspiration: Supporting Women on Their Journey,” served as an important platform for discussing ways to enhance the political, economic, and social participation of women worldwide.

In her remarks, Narbayeva highlighted the importance of empowering women, creating conditions for the realization of their potential, and strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation to promote gender equality and sustainable development.

Participants of the forum praised the organization of the 150th anniversary IPU Assembly, which took place in Tashkent earlier this year, and underscored the historic significance of the Tashkent Declaration adopted during the previous Women Parliamentarians’ Forum.

During the discussions, calls were made to enhance global solidarity, support women in crisis situations, and promote initiatives aimed at expanding women’s knowledge, leadership skills, and participation in decision-making.

Speakers noted that Uzbekistan’s experience in implementing comprehensive measures to support women and ensure their active engagement in public, economic, and political life serves as a model for the international community.

They emphasized that strengthening the role of women is not only a national priority but also a strategic global objective essential for achieving peace, sustainable development, and human progress.
