Chairperson of the Senate meets with the leaders of the parliaments of the IPA CIS member states

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan is on an official visit to the Russian Federation. The day before, a delegation headed by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva arrived in St. Petersburg to participate in the regular meeting of the IPA CIS Council and the fifty-second plenary session of the IPA CIS.

Within the framework of the visit, bilateral meetings of the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva with the heads of the parliaments of the IPA CIS member countries were held.

Thus, during the meeting of the head of the upper chamber of parliament Tanzila Narbaeva with the Chairperson of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Z. Greceanîi, detailed information was given about the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, the main positions of the country. The issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation, gender equality, youth policy, measures taken in the context of a pandemic, as well as further partnership in the economy, culture and other areas were considered.

“Moldova and Uzbekistan have been linked by friendly relations for centuries,” said Tanzila Narbaeva, head of the upper house of parliament. - Our President Sh. Mirziyoyev is committed to an open policy, establishing good relations in all areas. And today we intend to interact with you in the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres and through the parliament. It is necessary to establish contacts between the parliaments of the two countries.

The head of the upper house of the parliament of Uzbekistan proposed to create a friendship group of the parliaments of the two countries, to establish ties at the interregional level.

On the same day, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis T. Narbaeva met with Chairperson of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia A. Mirzoyan.

The parties discussed issues of expanding cooperation in the spheres of trade and economy, culture, education.

- Relations between the two countries have deep historical roots, which are valued in Uzbekistan. But they have received dynamic development in all directions over the past three years, - stressed the President of the Senate T. Narbavea. - We see Armenia as one of the main strategic partners. However, it is necessary to realize the full potential and opportunities for building up bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the parties noted the work of the current friendship group of the parliaments of the two countries, agreed to exchange experience through regional parliaments, to establish cooperation between specialized committees on lawmaking.

The parties stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries, including enhancing the interaction of the relevant parliamentary and government structures.

After that, the head of the upper chamber of the parliament of Uzbekistan T. Narbaeva met with the Chairperson of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan S. Gafarova.

The meeting discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, deepening the Uzbek-Azerbaijani parliamentary interaction, as well as expanding and new prospects for mutual relations.

- Uzbekistan attaches particular importance to strengthening multifaceted cooperation with Azerbaijan. Relations between our countries are based on deep historical roots, commonality and closeness of national traditions, customs, language, culture and religion, - said the head of the upper chamber of the Uzbek parliament T. Narbaeva. - I consider it expedient to continue the practice of participation of members of parliaments of the two countries at various events of an international nature.

The need to develop the activities of groups on inter-parliamentary cooperation was noted.

The parties agreed to establish contacts between the Institute for Legislative Problems and Parliamentary Research under the Parliament of Uzbekistan with analytical legal structures under the Parliament of Azerbaijan, provide mutual support within the framework of international parliamentary organizations, exchange experience within the parliamentary structures of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS), continue work to develop cooperation in the field of tourism and other areas, assistance in the implementation of agreements between the heads of state of the two countries.

During the meetings, the head of the Senate T. Narbaeva noted that parliamentary diplomacy is recognized as an important foreign policy resource in resolving bilateral relations and other pressing issues.

Thus, parliamentary diplomacy directly affects not only the deepening of mutual trust, but also the expansion of cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.

The Chairperson of the Senate T. Narbaeva invited the heads of parliaments of the IPA CIS member countries to visit Uzbekistan, as well as to take part in a number of international events.
