Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee Participates in UN Tourism International Summit in Berlin

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 2 March 2026, as part of the ITB Berlin international tourism exhibition in Germany, a conference of tourism ministers organized by UN Tourism took place under the theme “Empowering Emerging Destinations: From Potential to Performance.” The summit focused on transforming the potential of emerging tourist destinations and creating conditions for sustainable industry growth.

The event served as a high-level platform for exchanging experiences among tourism ministers of UN Tourism member states, aimed at developing strategies that ensure economic returns for countries and regions while preserving cultural and natural heritage. Key discussions centered on improving tourism management models, removing interdepartmental barriers, attracting investment, developing human capital and workforce training amid market transformation, strengthening public-private partnerships, and diversifying tourism offerings to enhance sector resilience and competitiveness.

The Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, A. Akkulov, participated in the summit. In his speech, he detailed ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, strategic investment priorities, measures to develop regional destinations, and the creation of a favorable institutional environment for sustainable sector growth. Special attention was given to engaging local communities, modernizing infrastructure, and improving the quality of tourism services.

The summit’s international significance lies in fostering coordinated approaches to tourism development amid global industry transformation. ITB Berlin traditionally brings together major global tourism stakeholders, and the ministerial format allows for the development of solutions aimed at long-term growth, investment sustainability, and increasing tourism’s contribution to national economies.

Such events lay the foundation for continued international cooperation, coordinated tourism policy, and the exchange of best practices, contributing to the formation of a more sustainable, inclusive, and competitive global tourism system.
