Chairman of the Senate: today the socio-economic development of the regions is one of the most urgent tasks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - At the thirteenth plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairperson of the upper house of parliament Tanzila Narbaeva expressed her opinion on the activities of deputies and senators in the field.

- Today, the socio-economic development of the regions is one of the most urgent tasks facing us, - said the Chairman of the Senate T. Narbaeva. - But not everyone treats this issue responsibly. During the recent visits of the President to Ferghana and Namangan regions, we saw the problems that have accumulated in the regions, the situation in the makhallas. The population does not hide their discontent. Of course, during the visits, an appropriate assessment of the activities of central and territorial executive bodies was given, specific tasks were set to solve problems.

But the question arises, do the representatives of the people - deputies and senators - do not see these problems on the ground? After all, they also live in the same region, in the same mahalla. People expressed their confidence in them. The law gives authority, the state gives the tribune. Where is initiative, where is activity?!

Senators who work in the Senate on a permanent basis are assigned to territories. Where are they looking? Is it really difficult to maintain a constant dialogue with colleagues, activists in the region and identify problems?

Until the solution of problems in the regions becomes our daily work, people’s discontent will grow. Therefore, each of us is obliged to regularly study the problems in the regions and make specific proposals and initiatives to solve them. Not a single day should be wasted in this direction. Senate committees need to intensify the conduct of control events, hearings and field receptions.

We call on the relevant executive authorities, including the heads of the regions, to be more responsible, local Kengashes and public structures to be more active, the media, in particular journalists, bloggers, call for cooperation in this direction.
