Chairman of the Senate: the incident at the Sardobin reservoir caused concern of all our people

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As previously reported, today, on 5 September, an offsite meeting of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was held in Syrdarya region.

In her speech, the head of the upper house of parliament, Tanzila Narbaeva, focused on the reforms being carried out in the country and measures taken to eliminate the consequences of the man-made disaster at the Sardobin reservoir.

“Of course, reforms do not happen on their own, great achievements are not easy to achieve,” said T. Narbaeva, Chair of the Senate. - This year was especially difficult. As in the rest of the world, the pandemic in our country and the ensuing global economic crisis have caused widespread concern.

At the same time, the disaster at the Sardoba reservoir and its consequences caused concern not only in Syrdarya residents, but also among the entire people. Of course, all the necessary measures at the level of the head of state and government to eliminate the consequences of this emergency and prevent a man-made disaster in the future are being carried out quickly and decisively. In particular, supporting the families of the victims has become a nationwide movement. In this regard, the action "Help Sardoba" rallied our people even more.

It should be noted that the head of state closely followed the implementation of tasks in this area. Of course, if necessary, the causes of the accident at the Sardoba reservoir will be identified and a legal assessment will be given. There should be no doubt about it. But life goes on, and now we need to pay more attention to supporting the affected population, to meet the needs of people.

The Senate as a chamber of territorial representation cannot be indifferent in connection with the incoming numerous applications, the study and analysis of which require a solution of a number of problems. In this regard, the Senate created a Working Group to study the work being done to eliminate the consequences of a man-made disaster at the Sardobin reservoir. During direct dialogue with people, a number of problems were identified. Most of them are resolved on the spot.

- Under the leadership of the head of our state at the level of the government and local authorities, a lot has been done to promptly eliminate the consequences of the man-made disaster that occurred at the Sardoba reservoir.

However, there are some issues that have been overlooked and overshadow the results achieved. The unresolved problem of even one victim can lead to the emergence of a negative opinion about parliament, government and reforms in general. After all, the interests of the people are behind everything we do. Therefore, a lag in fulfilling tasks in this area should not be allowed.

The issue of supporting young people and ensuring their employment should also be at the center of attention. And in this direction, the necessary measures should be taken immediately. In this regard, the deputies of local Kengashes, especially members of the Youth Parliament, should strengthen control and analysis, put forward well-grounded proposals and initiatives.

One more question. The problem of employment is becoming more and more urgent in the context of the pandemic and the global economic crisis. In this regard, it is necessary to allocate funds in the form of soft loans for entrepreneurial activities, as well as to take comprehensive measures to ensure employment of the unemployed. The implementation of investment projects in this direction also plays an important role.

At the same time, it is important to systematically and systematically exercise parliamentary, deputy and public control over the solution of emerging problems.

One more point. We are grateful to the representatives of the media, journalists and bloggers for covering the problems in the field. We will continue to closely monitor what they post and take the necessary steps to address these issues.

As the head of our state emphasized, no one should be left without attention and care. This requirement should be the main criterion for all our work.

In particular, through the efforts of the Working Group, funds allocated for work carried out in the region were returned.
