Chairman of the Senate takes part in the meeting of the IPA CIS Council

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 November 2021, a regular meeting of the IPA CIS Council was held.

The Council members discussed the agenda of the fifty-third plenary meeting of the IPA CIS, as well as the work plan of the IPA CIS for 2022.

Then the parliamentarians discussed the results of monitoring the past elections in the Commonwealth space, including the election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 24 October 2021,

A high assessment was given to the past presidential elections in Uzbekistan. According to representatives of the IPA CIS Council, the elections were held in accordance with international standards. They were open, democratic and transparent.

They also discussed the forthcoming elections of deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on 28 November 2021.

It was noted that the monitoring group included 75 international observers headed by the coordinator - Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Defense and Security Issues K. Burkhanov.

The Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva took part in the meeting and made a speech.

Further, information was heard about the decisions of the Council of CIS Heads of State of October 15, 2021 and the Council of CIS Heads of Government of 12 November 2021.

The meeting also discussed issues on the preparation of the World Conference on Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue, the results of the ninth Nevsky International Environmental Congress, as well as the third Eurasian Women’s Forum.

The parliamentarians noted the high level of the events held by the Interparliamentary Assembly and thanked the organizers for the opportunity to present their ideas at the IPA CIS site and exchange experience on various issues.
