Chairman of the Senate meets with members of the delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the US House of Representatives

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 11 October 2021, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva met with members of the International Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives.

During the meeting, issues of expanding bilateral practical interaction, including strengthening inter-parliamentary relations, were considered.

It was emphasized that thanks to the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States, relations between the two countries entered a new stage of strategic partnership. 

During the conversation, a high assessment was given to the deep transformations and large-scale reforms being carried out in our country.

The head of the American delegation conveyed the greetings of the President of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to his Uzbek colleagues.

Prospects for strengthening and expanding ties between Uzbek and American parliamentarians were also discussed. In this context, the positive role and effectiveness of the activities of the "Kokus in Uzbekistan" was emphasized.

Members of Congress expressed their readiness to assist in the cancellation of the Jackson-Vanik amendment in relation to Uzbekistan.

Congressmen showed great interest in the ongoing reforms to prevent forced labor and human trafficking.

They also exchanged views on the development of political, trade, economic, social, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, women's entrepreneurship, as well as strengthening the role of women in society, ensuring gender equality.

The parties also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
