Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the seventh plenary session of the Senate, the law "On the rights of persons with disabilities" was discussed and approved by the senators. The chairperson of the upper house of parliament paid attention to the aspects to be implemented in this direction.

“The law “On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities ”is really a very important law,” said T. Narbayeva, Chairman of the Senate. “We all know that many problems have accumulated in this area over the years. There are more cases when people with obvious disabilities are re-examined every day. We must also recognize that the Law sets out specific rules to prevent such cases and to simplify the process of establishing disability.

It is necessary to order statistics when working with persons with disabilities. In order to analyze the problem of disability, provide comprehensive support, and fully integrate them into public life, we must have clear information and understanding of such important aspects as their number, place of residence, degree of disability. Otherwise, the work to be done will not be completed, some people will be ignored.

In addition, based on international standards, we must create a “free environment” in the country for people with disabilities.

In this regard, we have enough problems. In everyday life - in transport, in public catering, in the service sector, in cultural and entertainment establishments - we often face a lack of necessary conditions for persons with disabilities. Naturally, this leads to their well-founded objections.

In addition, priority should be given to the integration of persons with disabilities into public life. They should always feel like full members of society. First of all, it is necessary to change the attitude, the view of society on this issue. And this requires organizing work on the basis of medium- and long-term specific strategies and directions. In this case, it is advisable to pay attention not only to organizational and legal, but also to ethical criteria.
