Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zamin Foundation, visited schools in Ramitan and Shafirkan districts of Bukhara, where she got acquainted with the results of the project "Water supply, sanitation and hygiene in secondary schools in Bukhara region" and talked with students on the topic rational use of water resources, the importance of sanitation and hygiene for a healthy lifestyle.
At the moment, already in 16 schools of the region, water supply systems from wells, water filtration and desalination to the level of safe drinking water have been installed. Internal and external engineering networks of water supply and sewerage, toilets and showers were built.
Local systems of biological wastewater treatment up to the irrigation level have also been created. Residents of settlements where schools are located have gained access to clean, safe drinking water.
Another 15 schools in Bukhara region have been selected for the implementation of the next stage, the press service of the Foundation reports.
The project is being implemented in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Uzsuvtaminot JSC, and the Ministry of Public Education.
