Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As chairman of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, I would like to express my warmest congratulations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of German-Uzbek relations.
Our countries can proudly look back on an eventful history and close cooperation, which, especially in recent years, have become dynamic. The key events were the mutual visits of our Presidents, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in 2019.
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation, as a German political foundation, has been participating in this joint work for many years: back in 1998, we opened an office in Tashkent.
The basis of the Fund’s work - then and now - is the joint continuation of the process of developing cooperation and promoting mutual exchange between our countries.
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation provides assistance to Uzbekistan in many areas, including the strengthening of civil society, support for youth and women, cooperation in ensuring the rule of law and human rights. Currently, the topics of climate change and renewable energy sources are important areas of our interaction, as well as the promotion of regional exchange.
How important this dialogue is between our countries, when we listen to each other and learn from each other, can be seen not only in concrete measures and projects, but also when looking at the current political situation in the world. And that this means the need not only for contacts between governments, but also for meetings and exchanges at various levels of society.
I am very pleased that relations between our countries continue to strengthen and the process of reforms in Uzbekistan continues. We, as the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, will continue to actively contribute to these processes.
I think we are on the right track. In this regard, I sincerely congratulate you on the anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries!
Chairman of the Board of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation
