Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In July 2021, the Business Activity Index (IDA), calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, amounted to 994 points, and, compared to the previous month, decreased moderately by 0.6%. Despite a moderate decline in the business activity index versus the previous month, its growth is noted by 25.1% versus the same period of last year.

The following changes were observed in the components of the IDA

The PMI in July 2021 decreased moderately by 0.6% and amounted to 996 points, compared to the previous month, which is explained by changes in the following components:

• the number of transactions on bank accounts of business entities decreased by 7.9%;

• the component of operating economic entities increased by 4.3%;

• the intensity of purchasing raw materials at the commodity and raw materials exchange increased by 0.7%;

• the component of trade marks increased by 11.0%.

Regionally, the Republic of Karakalpakstan showed the highest growth

In July 2021, the Business Activity Index for 8 regions increased compared to the previous month (June 2021). In the Republic of Karakalpakstan (39.7%), in Jizzakh (36.4%), Tashkent (29.5%) regions and in the city of Tashkent (18.7%), there was a significant increase.

At the same time, in Andijan (- 12.6%), Kashkadarya (- 12.3%) and Surkhandarya (- 9.5%) regions there was a significant decline in relation to the previous month.

OPERATIONS WITH BANK ACCOUNTS

The number of interbank payment transactions in July 2021 amounted to 4,504.1 thousand and decreased by 386.7 thousand transactions (7.9%) compared to June 2021.

The number of banking operations in all regions has decreased.

In July 2021, the number of banking transactions between legal entities decreased in all regions compared to the previous month. In particular, the most significant decline was observed in Surkhandarya (-14.0%), Andijan (-13.6%), Syrdarya (-13.2%), Jizzakh (-10.5%) and Tashkent (-10.4%) %) areas.

ACTIVITY ON COMMODITY EXCHANGE

In July 2021, the exchange component of the IDA was 1.0428. This means a 4.3% increase in the component level compared to the previous month, which is associated with an increase in the average physical volume of goods purchased in each transaction by 22.5%. At the same time, the number of transactions decreased by 13.9%.

At the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, the total turnover in July 2021 amounted to 4,854.1 billion soums, which is 17.1% less than in the previous month.

ACTIVITY OF BUSINESS ENTITIES

The component of operating economic entities in July 2021 amounted to 1.0073, which means an increase in the component by 0.7% compared to the level of the previous month. This indicator also has a positive value in relation to the same period last year with an increase of 13.7%.

The number of operating economic entities in July 2021 increased by 5,282 units compared to June 2021 (561,360 units) and amounted to 566,642 units.

The number of large enterprises increased by 7 units.

During the reporting period, the number of small businesses increased from 450,155 to 454,975 units (an increase of 4,820 units). The number of farms increased from 108,146 to 108,601 units (an increase of 455 units). The number of operating large enterprises was 3,066, which is 7 more than in June 2021.

BRAND REGISTRATION

In July 2021, the index of protected trademarks was 1.1102, which means an increase of 11.0% compared to the previous month. In July of this year, legal entities registered 282 trademarks and trade names.
