Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In April 2022, the Business Activity Index (PIA), calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, amounted to 1,100 points, and increased by 10.0% compared to the previous month. There is also a more than 35 percent increase in IDA compared to the same period of last year.

The business activity index in April 2022 increased by 10.0% compared to the previous month and amounted to 1100 points, due to changes in the following components:

• the number of transactions on bank accounts of business entities increased by 8.5%;

• component of operating economic entities increased by 2.0%;

•intensity of purchases of raw materials on the Commodity Exchange increased by 17.7%;

•brands component decreased by 17.9%.

In the regional context, Syrdarya region showed the highest growth.

In April 2022, the 13 Region PMI increased compared to the previous month (March 2022). Significant growth was observed in Syrdarya (38.0%), Kashkadarya (23.1%), Jizzakh (13.7%) and Bukhara (12.3%) regions (Fig. 2).

At the same time, this index in Navoi region decreased by 1.7% compared to the previous month.

OPERATIONS WITH BANK ACCOUNTS

The number of interbank payment transactions in April 2022 amounted to 5.43 million and increased by 427,200 transactions (8.5%) compared to March 2022.

The number of banking operations in 12 regions increased.

In April 2022, the number of banking transactions between legal entities increased in 12 regions compared to the previous month. In particular, the most significant growth was observed in Kashkadarya (15.2%), Andijan (14.1%), Namangan (12.8%) and Syrdarya (10.9%) regions. At the same time, a decline was observed in the Ferghana (3.7%) and Bukhara (3.4%) regions.

ACTIVITY ON THE COMMODITY EXCHANGE

In April 2022, the exchange component of the PMI was 1.1768. This means an increase in the level of the component by 17.7% compared to the previous month, which is associated both with an increase in the average physical volume of goods purchased in each transaction (20.9%) and with an increase in the number of transactions (14.4%).

At the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, the total turnover in April 2022 amounted to 7.16 trillion soums, which is 4.0% more compared to the previous month.

ACTIVITY OF BUSINESS SUBJECTS

The component of operating economic entities in April 2022 amounted to 1.0197, which means an increase in the component by 2.0% compared to the previous month. This indicator has a positive value in relation to the same period last year with an increase of 10.9%.

The number of operating economic entities in April 2022 increased by 5,923 units compared to March 2022 (586,816 units) and amounted to 592,739 units.

The number of large enterprises increased by 176 units.

During the reporting period, the number of small enterprises increased from 475,465 to 481,138 units (an increase of 5,673 units). Also, the number of farms increased from 107,730 to 107,804 units (an increase of 74 units). The number of operating large enterprises amounted to 3,797 units, which is 176 units higher compared to March 2022.

BRAND REGISTRATION

In April 2022, the protected trademark index stood at 0.8212, down 17.9% from the previous month. In April of this year, legal entities registered 271 trademarks and trade names.
