CERR: the number of car purchase and sale transactions in the country reaches 691,900 cars in 2021

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An analysis by the CERR showed that sales in the domestic car market in 2021 showed a significant increase. So last year, car sales grew by 12.5% compared to 2020.

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) regularly analyzes changes in sales in the car market.

In 2021, the number of car purchase and sale transactions in the country made up 691,900 cars, which is 12.5% more than last year (614,900 in 2020). Of these, 28.1% are new cars (13,600 or 7% were produced abroad).

It should be noted that due to the global shortage of microchips caused by the coronavirus pandemic, in January-November 2021, 12,000-20,000 new cars were delivered monthly, while in December this figure increased to 27,200.

In terms of regions, the highest annual growth rates were observed in Samarkand (30.9%), Surkhandarya (29.4%), Namangan (27.9%) regions and the city of Tashkent (19.9%). In Navoi (9.7%), Syrdarya (9.4%) and Tashkent (3.2%) regions, the number of car purchase and sale transactions decreased.

Sales of new foreign cars increased in 2021. In the first half of the year, 4.7 thousand cars were sold, and in the second half of the year the sales volume reached 8.9 thousand (an increase of 1.9 times). 

Most foreign-made cars were sold in Tashkent (58.4%). Ferghana (12.4%), Tashkent (7%) and Samarkand (4.7%) regions took second place in sales of foreign cars.

The smallest number of transactions was recorded in Surkhandarya (0.5%) and Syrdarya (0.7%) regions.
