Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In June 2022, the Business Activity Index (BAI), calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, amounted to 1,062 points, and increased by 6.2% compared to the previous month. There is also a more than 51 percent increase in BAI compared to the same period of last year. 

The following changes were observed in the BAI components:

The business activity index in June 2022 increased by 6.2% compared to the previous month and amounted to 1062 points, due to changes in the following components:

the number of transactions on bank accounts of economic entities increased by 14.4%;

the operating business component decreased by 1.9%;

the intensity of purchases of raw materials at the Commodity Exchange increased by 7.2%;

the trademark component decreased by 41.5%.

In the regional context, Syrdarya region again showed the highest growth

In June 2022, the BAI for all 14 regions increased compared to the previous month (May 2022). Significant growth was observed in Syrdarya (43.3%), Samarkand (43.0%), Navoi (39.5%) and Surkhandarya (37.2%) regions.

OPERATIONS WITH BANK ACCOUNTS

The number of interbank payment transactions in June 2022 amounted to 5,692.2 thousand and increased by 716.1 thousand transactions (14.4%) compared to May 2022.

The number of banking operations in 13 regions increased.

In June 2022, the number of banking transactions between legal entities increased in 13 regions compared to the previous month. In particular, the most significant growth was observed in Andijan (20.3%), Fergana (19.1%), Navoi (14.3%) regions, in Tashkent (17.0%) and in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (14, four%). This indicator in Surkhandarya region decreased by 7.1%.

ACTIVITY ON THE COMMODITY EXCHANGE

In June 2022, the exchange component of the BAI amounted to 1.0719, i.e. increased by 7.2%, compared to the previous month, which is associated both with an increase in the average physical volume of goods purchased in each transaction (7.1%) and with growth in the number of transactions (7.3%).

At the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, the total turnover in June 2022 amounted to 7,367.6 billion soums, which is 5.0% more compared to the previous month.

ACTIVITY OF BUSINESS SUBJECTS

The component of operating economic entities in June 2022 amounted to 0.9808, which means a decline in the component by 1.9% compared to the previous month. This indicator has a positive value in relation to the same period last year with an increase of 9.8%.

The number of operating economic entities in June 2022 increased by 6,382 units compared to the previous month of 2022 (598,986 units) and amounted to 605,371 units.

The number of large enterprises decreased by 404 units.

During the reporting period, the number of small enterprises increased from 487,101 to 493,727 units (an increase of 6,626 units). Also, the number of farms increased from 107,918 to 108,078 units (an increase of 160 units). The number of operating large enterprises amounted to 3,566 units, which is 404 units lower compared to May 2022.

BRAND REGISTRATION

In June 2022, the protected trademark index was 0.5851, i.e. dropped significantly by 41.5% from the previous month. In June of this year, legal entities registered 196 trademarks and trade names.
