Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A ceremonial opening of the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan took place at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event became a significant occasion in the cultural life of the two brotherly countries and a vivid testament to the strong humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

As part of the opening ceremony, a rich concert program featuring artists from both countries was presented. Prior to the concert, guests viewed a photo exhibition showcasing Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage, centuries-old history, and contemporary development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farid Jafarov noted that the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan are not merely a cultural event, but a symbol of the deep mutual respect, affection, and spiritual closeness between the two peoples. According to him, holding this cultural forum is of particular importance for the entire Turkic world and represents an important milestone in the development of cultural cooperation.

It was emphasized that the peoples of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have long demonstrated mutual interest in and sincere respect for each other’s culture. The tradition of holding reciprocal Days of Culture reflects a shared responsibility for preserving a common spiritual heritage and serves as a natural continuation of the strategic partnership between the two states.

Farid Jafarov also stressed that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are bound by strong historical, cultural, and spiritual ties. Shared roots, belonging to the Turkic world, linguistic proximity, and common religious and cultural values create a solid foundation for the further development of relations, which today are being successfully strengthened in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres.

Special attention was given to the importance of expanding cultural interaction both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations, including the Organization of Turkic States, UNESCO, ISESCO, and the CIS.

In turn, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bahadir Akhmedov подчеркнул that the opening of the Days of Culture in Baku clearly demonstrates the high level of cultural ties between the two countries. He noted that comprehensive and thorough preparations had been carried out for the event, and that the program was designed with due regard for the best traditions of both cultures.

According to Bahadir Akhmedov, alongside performances by Uzbek artists, the concert program also featured examples of Azerbaijani musical and stage art, vividly reflecting mutual cultural enrichment and the spiritual closeness of the two peoples.

During the concert, audiences were presented with musical and dance performances showcasing the richness and diversity of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

The main objective of the Days of Culture is to further strengthen friendly relations between the two countries, promote humanitarian cooperation, and expand cultural dialogue. The Days of Culture of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan will run until 20 December.

Within their framework, the first meeting of the Joint Uzbek–Azerbaijani Commission on Culture will be held on 15 December, along with concert programs featuring the Navruz Dance Ensemble and the State Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan.

The closing ceremony of the Days of Culture will take place at the Mirza Ulugbek Secondary School in the city of Fuzuli, which was built with the assistance of Uzbekistan and commissioned in 2023. In addition, a separate cultural program has been arranged in Baku for members of the Uzbek delegation.

It should be noted that the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan were previously held in Baku in 2023, while the Days of Culture of Azerbaijan were successfully hosted in Tashkent in 2024, confirming the steady and dynamic development of cultural cooperation between the two states.
