Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Competition Committee have signed a memorandum of cooperation on price stabilization and consumer protection, the Committee’s press service reported.
The document emphasizes the need to strengthen joint efforts to maintain price stability, reduce inflation, and foster a competitive environment in goods and services markets.
Under the partnership, the parties will exchange information on market mechanisms affecting inflation, preventing unjustified price increases and abuse of monopoly positions, and ensuring transparency in sectoral pricing.
The Central Bank and the Competition Committee will coordinate actions to study supply factors and minimize risks in consumer markets.
A key objective of the cooperation is to strengthen institutional partnership to ensure price stability, reduce inflation, and create a healthy competitive environment.
The agreement foresees prompt data exchange to identify monopolistic conditions affecting price formation, as well as analysis of market concentration among dominant players.
The parties also agreed to share opinions on draft regulatory acts in the field of consumer protection for financial services.
