Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - According to the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan, a Center for the Development of National Cinematography will be created in the country. This is a non-governmental non-profit organization founded by the Agency for the Development of Cinematography and the Union of representatives of the film industry of Uzbekistan.

Based on the Agency’s orders, the Center will organize the participation of national films in international film festivals and at prestigious film markets around the world. In addition, the Center will regularly inform the public about its activities, in particular, about each funded film, the amount and terms of funding.

The decree also identified six key tasks facing the Center for the Development of Cinematography:

- financial support for the production of national films and serials, as well as the joint creation of film products;

- organization on the basis of market principles for the rental of films produced on the basis of state orders;

- attracting domestic and foreign investors to finance production, lease and show national films;

- financing the provision of subtitles and dubbing of national films into foreign languages, the best world films - into the state language;

- ensuring the participation of works of national cinema in international film festivals, as well as the organization of domestic and international film forums;

- support of the Creative Union of Filmmakers of Uzbekistan and non-governmental non-profit organizations, the direction of which is the protection of the rights of representatives of the cinematography and the film industry, through the allocation of grants and social orders.

In addition, the Decree provides for a systematic continuation of reforms aimed at developing the national cinema, improving the system of state support for this area, introducing effective mechanisms for film production in the country based on world experience, as well as creating a modern infrastructure for the film industry and developing a film distribution system in the country.
