Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In Samarkand, due to a decrease in the number of patients, the last center for patients with COVID-19 was closed, the press service of the Samarkand Region Health Department said.

According to the Ministry of Health, on 5 January, the last patient with COVID-19 in Samarkand recovered and was discharged from the institution. Thus, the last quarantine center in the town of Kimegarlar completed its work.

“For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, those infected with the coronavirus in our region have fully recovered. The regional health department thanks all medical staff for their hard work, professionalism and skill,” the report says.

As noted in the press service of the Regional Health Department, a special department has been prepared in the Samarkand Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital for cases of new coronavirus infection in the region.

Earlier it was reported about the closure of the distribution and treatment center for 1080 beds for patients with suspected coronavirus, organized on the basis of the Samarkand Olympic Reserve Training Complex. Quarantine centers were also closed in Urgut and Kattakurgan districts.
