Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Production of passenger cars in Uzbekistan increased by 12.1% in January–February 2026 compared with the same period last year, reaching 64,221 units versus 57,334 units a year earlier, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Output of commercial trucks also rose, growing 20.2% from 534 to 642 units. The most notable growth was observed in electric vehicles and crossovers from Chinese brands. Production of BYD vehicles increased 1.66 times, from 1,912 to 3,165 units, while Haval output more than doubled, rising from 1,117 to 2,405 units. Specialized vehicle production also surged by 67.4%, reaching 6,380 units compared with 3,812 units in the same period of 2025.

Among mass-market models, the Cobalt showed steady growth, with production up 19.3% to 23,216 units. Tracker output also increased by 6.4%, reaching 6,210 units.

At the same time, production of several models declined. Onix output fell 22.4% to 5,215 units, Chery cars dropped 7.3% to 1,290 units, and KIA decreased 1.5% to 4,039 units. Production of the Damas model also declined 5.3%, reaching 12,301 units.

The overall growth in automotive production reflects sustained domestic demand and the expansion of the model range through localization of Chinese brands at Uzbekistan’s production facilities. The share of brands such as BYD, Haval, and Chery in total passenger car output increased to 10.7% from 7.7% a year earlier.
