CAMCA 2025 in Ulaanbaatar: Regional Countries to Discuss a Shared Future Beyond Politics and Borders
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 19–20 June 2025, the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar, will host the CAMCA 2025 Regional Forum—a major apolitical platform aimed at fostering strategic dialogue among the countries of Central Asia, the Caucasus, Mongolia, and Afghanistan on the region’s future.
This year, the central theme of the forum is “A Vision for the Regional Future: Business, Society, and Governance in CAMCA,” emphasizing the commitment to a comprehensive discussion on sustainable development and regional cooperation.
The forum is traditionally organized by the CAMCA Network, the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute, and the Rumsfeld Foundation. More than 300 participants are expected from all ten CAMCA countries, including leading experts, researchers, and practitioners eager to share experiences and advance interregional collaboration.
The program includes over 30 thematic sessions focused on the region’s key challenges and opportunities.
Among the featured speakers are Chimgundariyn Navaa-Yunden, Ambassador-at-Large of Mongolia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a COP17 organizing committee member; Professor Brianne Todd, former advisor to the U.S. National Security Council; and Jonathan Elkind, a senior researcher at Columbia University and energy policy expert. Strategic communications and sustainable partnerships will be covered by Ainura Umaeva, CEO of the TIDAM agency. In total, more than 75 internationally renowned speakers have been invited.
The forum agenda covers several priority areas. One key focus is boosting investment appeal and ensuring economic resilience. These topics will be discussed in a special plenary session featuring representatives from Templeton Global Investments, the Mongolian Stock Exchange, and the Trade and Development Bank of Mongolia. Geopolitical developments and green finance will also be in the spotlight, with participation from the International Finance Corporation, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Mongolian Nature Heritage Fund.
A significant portion of the agenda will be dedicated to Mongolia’s strategy for developing critical minerals and building supply chains, with the involvement of Kazakhstan and major global mining companies. Technological innovation will be highlighted in sessions on artificial intelligence, fintech, and the growth of startup ecosystems, featuring organizations such as Accelerate Prosperity, Qazaqstan Venture Group, and leading Mongolian tech companies.
The forum will also feature CAMCA Conversations—open dialogues with young innovators, a roundtable on the future of regional media with journalists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and Mongolia, and a plenary session focused on the institutionalization of CAMCA as a next step toward sustainable and coordinated regional cooperation.
The forum offers a unique opportunity for idea exchange, the development of joint initiatives, and the search for solutions that could transform the entire region. Key themes will include sustainable development, climate challenges, the promotion of women’s and youth leadership, as well as tourism, transport, education, and improved public administration.
Since its inception, the CAMCA Regional Forum has positioned itself as an apolitical platform for open and constructive engagement among young leaders, professionals, and experts from across the region. Its mission is to promote regional partnership, support sustainable development, and advance economic growth and social progress.
Organizers are confident that the 2025 forum will serve as a landmark event in strengthening regional ties, fostering bold ideas, and contributing significantly to building a sustainable and prosperous future for the entire CAMCA space.
