By 2026, the total capacity of solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan to reach 8,000 MW

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A draft presidential resolution, it is planned to increase in the share of renewable energy sources to 25% by 2026, which will save about 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.

According to the document, A program will be developed to expand and support the use of renewable energy sources. According to which:

1. 8 wind power plants (WPPs) with a total capacity of 4000 MW will be built, namely:

- 4 power plants in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as in the Bukhara and Navoi regions with a total capacity of 1600 MW in 2023-2024;

- In 2025-2026, 4 wind farms with a total capacity of 2,400 MW will be put into operation throughout the country.

2. Solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 4000 MW will be put into operation, namely:

- In Navoi, Jizzakh, Samarkand and Surkhandarya regions, 4 power plants with a total capacity of 1100 MW will be commissioned in 2023;

- 5 power plants in Bukhara, Namangan, Khorezm, Kashkadarya and Fergana regions with a total capacity of 900 MW in 2024;

- In 2025-2026, solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 1800 MW will be put into operation throughout the country.

- By 2030, the volume of small renewable energy sources with a capacity of up to 1 MW will be increased to 1000 MW.

3. The management system for the use of renewable energy sources will be improved.
