Business Ombudsman Secures Cancellation of 7.4 Billion Soums Fine for Tashkent Company

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Office of the Business Ombudsman, tasked with protecting the rights and legitimate interests of entrepreneurs, has successfully helped a Tashkent-based company overturn a tax fine, the agency said.

The company, E.H.G., filed a complaint against the actions of the Interregional Tax Inspectorate for Large Taxpayers. During an on-site audit, the inspectorate identified delays in issuing electronic invoices for the sale of residential real estate totaling 37.4 billion soums.

The tax authorities classified the violations as revenue concealment under Article 223 of the Tax Code and imposed a fine of 7.4 billion soums.

The company challenged the inspectorate’s decision in court. The Tashkent Interdistrict Administrative Court ordered the tax authorities to review the audit materials but left the fine in place.

At the appellate level, the Tashkent City Administrative Court considered the case with legal representation provided by the Business Ombudsman’s office.

After reviewing the submitted legal arguments, the court ruled the tax authorities’ decision to impose the fine invalid.
