Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Bus routes No. 2, 18, 45, and 94 have resumed operation along the central dedicated BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) lane on Shota Rustaveli Street, the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan reported.

“The purpose of the project is to prioritize public transport, reduce traffic congestion, and create comfortable and safe conditions for passengers,” the ministry noted.

Officials emphasized that the central bus lane is designated exclusively for bus movement. Drivers of other vehicles are prohibited from using or stopping on this lane, as well as making left turns or U-turns.

Special platforms have been set up to ensure safe boarding and alighting. Passengers are encouraged to board in an orderly manner and give priority to the elderly, people with disabilities, and parents with children.

The Ministry called on all road users to show mutual respect and observe traffic etiquette, underscoring that the BRT system represents an important step toward the modernization of the capital’s transport infrastructure.
