Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During the visit of a delegation of the Uztekstilsanoat Association to Japan, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tokyo organized a briefing for representatives of Japanese business with the participation of more than 20 Japanese and domestic textile companies, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tokyo said in a statement.
During the briefing, the participants of the meeting got acquainted with the ongoing work in the textile industry of Uzbekistan, the favorable investment conditions created, the benefits and preferences provided for foreign investors, as well as the activities of cotton clusters. In addition, the Uzbek side communicated the decision of the Cotton Campaign International Coalition to cancel the global boycott of Uzbek cotton, as well as the work done in this direction by the Government of Uzbekistan to end forced labor in the cotton industry and ensure the effectiveness of ongoing reforms. Attention is drawn to the fact that the abolition of the cotton boycott helps to increase the interest of world brands in establishing the business in Uzbekistan.
During the briefing, the challenges facing the industry, set by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting on 29 July 2022, were announced to increase export volumes to US$9 billion, increase the volume of cotton fiber processing and the production of finished products under international brands.
For their part, the representatives of the briefing were interested in the production and raw material base of the textile industry, the range of manufactured and exported products, the available international certificates and the ongoing work to improve product quality.
