Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Regional branches of Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) will be opened in Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Namangan, Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions. The corresponding Resolution was signed by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 13 August.
This was another important event in the twenty-year history of one of the country's leading think tanks. The tasks of the CERR have been expanded, its role and responsibility in the formation and implementation of ongoing reforms, and issues of socio-economic development of Uzbekistan, and the development of regional development programs have increased.
By the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On additional measures to improve the quality and role of economic research in socio-economic development" additional tasks have been assigned to the CERR:
The decision was made in order to radically improve the quality of the initiatives being developed to reform the socio-economic sphere, the effectiveness of the reforms being carried out in the country, as well as to develop programs for the development of regions, industries and spheres in 2022-2026 based on scientifically based innovative approaches.
Among the additional tasks, the President instructed to entrust CERR with the provision on an ongoing basis with scientifically based proposals and recommendations of local government bodies in the development of programs aimed at accelerating the processes of socio-economic development in the regions.
The Center's research will focus on developing proposals for creating new production chains in sectors of the economy by examining the existing resource base in the field.
Together with the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, khokimiyats of regions and the city of Tashkent, quarterly polls will be conducted among the population in the context of the region.
The Center will continue to study the impact on the national economy of the integration processes of Uzbekistan into the world economy, as well as submission to the competent authorities of scientifically based proposals and recommendations in this direction;
CERR will develop and provide the competent authorities with scientifically based proposals through in-depth analysis of international best practices in the development of cluster activities in industry.
It is expected that the CERR business analytics, aimed at solving urgent problems with the use of modern information technologies and an interdepartmental integrated database, to local government bodies is expected.
The agreement was given to create in the structure of CERR:
- Sector for the development of industrial clusters;
- Sector for the implementation of IT technologies and database integration;
- Sector for Public Relations and Marketing;
- regional branches of the Center in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Namangan, Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions.
The resolution also approved a new structure of CERR, with a total number of 75 units, including 61 scientific workers.
