Body of Uzbek Woman Murdered in Türkiye Found

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has reported the repatriation of the body of an Uzbek citizen who was killed in Türkiye.

According to the diplomatic mission, 46-year-old Dilafruz Chullieva disappeared on January 25 after leaving her workplace in Balıkesir. Chullieva had been working as a caregiver for an elderly and ill person.

Following an appeal by her son through the Consular and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, a diplomatic note was sent to the Turkish Foreign Ministry. Search operations were organized in cooperation with the General Directorate of Security of Türkiye’s Interior Ministry.

On February 28, 2026, the body of an unidentified person was discovered in a forested area of the Balıkesir district. Due to the prolonged exposure to outdoor conditions, the body could not be immediately identified, and blood samples were taken for DNA testing. The results later confirmed that the deceased was Dilafruz Chullieva.

Four people have been detained on suspicion of involvement in the crime. Investigative actions are currently ongoing to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident.
