Belarus Plans BELAZ Mining Truck Assembly in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Belarus is considering establishing an assembly line for BELAZ mining equipment in Uzbekistan, the country’s Foreign Minister, Maksim Ryzhenkov, announced, according to BELTA.
The minister emphasized that the project would partially localize production and transfer advanced technological expertise, contributing to the growth of Uzbekistan’s industrial capacity and strengthening its technological resilience.
Uzbekistan possesses significant reserves of minerals and rare metals, making domestic mining equipment a crucial factor for economic development and technological security, Ryzhenkov noted.
He added that ambitious socio-economic development plans in both countries form the foundation for expanding bilateral relations. The two nations do not compete but complement each other across multiple industries, as evidenced by steady growth in mutual trade and expanding industrial cooperation.
Currently, about 250 enterprises in Uzbekistan involve Belarusian capital, while numerous Uzbek entrepreneurs operate in Belarus. As an example of successful collaboration, the minister cited a poultry production project in Uzbekistan led by a Belarusian company, which remains under the strategic attention of Uzbek authorities.
Belarus is also preparing initiatives for the upcoming visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Minsk, including opening an Uzbek trade house and launching a restaurant serving Uzbek national cuisine.
The topic of bilateral cooperation was also discussed during a meeting between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Belarus, Rakhmatulla Nazarov, with the upcoming presidential visit as a key focus. Lukashenko emphasized the significant potential to expand economic ties, stating that achieving a mutual trade turnover of US$2 billion is a realistic goal with further cooperation.
In 2025, trade between Belarus and Uzbekistan totaled approximately US$855 million, up 34.8% from 2024, with Belarus recording a positive trade balance exceeding US$517 million. Trade in services also grew, increasing 56.1% to reach US$207.9 million.
Currently, 229 Uzbek organizations have Belarusian residents as founders, demonstrating the growing investment and business cooperation between the two countries.
