Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan to Begin Construction of Joint Industrial Park in Tashkent Region in December

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, announced plans to begin construction of a joint industrial park with Uzbekistan in the Tashkent region as early as December this year.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Second Council of Regions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan, Khabirov emphasized the need to accelerate work on the project. “We have recognized that it is necessary to more actively promote the creation of an industrial park in the Tashkent region. I have requested to speed up the process, as we already have potential residents, and the park’s conditions are suitable, but construction has not yet started. I hope that in December we will lay the foundation stone and begin construction,” he said.

It is recalled that in April 2024, during the official visit of the Bashkortostan delegation to Uzbekistan, the Regional Development Corporation signed a cooperation agreement with JSC “Uzkimyosanoat,” providing for collaboration on the establishment of a joint technopark in the Tashkent region.

Khabirov also noted Bashkortostan’s readiness to assist Uzbekistan in providing agricultural land. “Regional hokims, considering land shortages, are requesting plots for growing vegetables so they can come, cultivate them, and transport the products back — this is more efficient. Regarding livestock farming, we are talking about small plots of 1,000 to 1,500 hectares, and we can organize this,” explained the regional leader.

He highlighted the active development of bilateral cooperation, as evidenced by the growth in trade turnover. “It is expected that there may be an official visit of the Bashkortostan delegation to Uzbekistan in December. Overall, the cooperation process is moving forward, and trade turnover is increasing: compared to last year, it has grown by 17%. These figures speak for themselves,” Khabirov noted.

According to him, the region’s interaction with Uzbekistan has a systemic foundation, enshrined in a 92-point roadmap covering economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian areas.

The second session of the Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan was held on October 21–22 in the Moscow region. The event was organized by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the government of the Moscow region, and the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan. The parties discussed new areas of cooperation and plan to sign a number of agreements.
