Banking Sector Dominates Trading on UZSE in February
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — February 2026 marked continued dominance of the financial sector on the Uzbekistan Stock Exchange (UZSE), with banks maintaining their position as the key drivers of activity on the national equity market.
Total trading volume for the month reached 1.45 trillion soums. The banking sector accounted for 69.39% of this amount, exceeding 1.01 trillion soums across 24,600 transactions. This concentration highlights the strong liquidity of bank shares and their leading role among domestic assets.
The distribution of trading activity across sectors shows a significant gap between the leader and other industries. The “other” category ranked second with a 26.67% share, while financial services and telecommunications accounted for 2.79% and 0.70%, respectively.
In terms of the number of transactions, the insurance sector followed banks with 6,993 deals, while industry recorded 5,628 transactions.
The lowest figures in February were observed in the leasing sector, where just 72 transactions totaled 817,680 soums. Similarly modest results were seen in energy and machinery, each accounting for only 0.01% of total turnover.
The February data confirms the ongoing trend of sectoral concentration on the market. The financial sector continues to attract the bulk of investment, while industries such as construction and agriculture remain less prominent and have limited impact on overall exchange dynamics.
