Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan Ruslanbek Davletov held a meeting with partner of the law firm Baker & McKenzie Thomas Firestone. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the possibilities of organizing joint activities in the legal sphere and to carry out interaction in order to support Uzbekistan’s efforts to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The parties discussed implementation of the training on compliance issues with Baker & McKenzie, with participation of representatives of law firms and auditors, government officials and the private sector in various industries.

Also, legal aspects of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO were discussed in conjunction with the competent state bodies, as well as organization of courses and internships for legal professionals on international arbitration.

The sides considered the potential of opening an international arbitration institution in Uzbekistan to resolve commercial and investment disputes, including the development of arbitration rules.
