Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The birth of a baby prompted an emergency landing of an Uzbekistan Airways flight from Tashkent to New York in Iceland. The airline’s press service announced the news via its Telegram channel.

"During the flight, a female passenger went into labor. Shortly after, a baby boy was born. As a result, the crew decided to make an emergency landing at an alternate airport in Keflavik, Iceland," the statement read.

Fortunately, an obstetrician and a surgeon were on board and assisted in delivering the baby.

Upon landing, medical personnel boarded the plane to provide the necessary care.

The mother and newborn were then transported to a local clinic, the airline’s press service added.
