Azerbaijan Joins Central Asia Leaders’ Summit Format

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Azerbaijan’s participation in the consultative meeting format of Central Asian states has been described as a historic development that opens new opportunities for strengthening ties between Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

The statement was made by Presidential Foreign Policy Adviser Abdulaziz Kamilov at the Global Baku Forum.

“A key step was the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the summit of Central Asian leaders, where Azerbaijan joined the regional dialogue. This event is of great importance for strengthening ties between our regions,” Kamilov said.

According to Report.az, he noted that the countries are currently discussing the creation of a new geo-economic space that would enhance connectivity between Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

In his view, such cooperation will contribute to the development of trade and economic relations, strengthen energy cooperation and deepen humanitarian ties among the countries of the region.
