Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 October, a solemn ceremony was held to award the winners of the competition among journalists in honor of the International Day of Rural Women and World Food Day, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Association "Women of the Agricultural Sector of Uzbekistan" with the technical support of the Representative Office of Food and Agriculture the United Nations Organization (FAO) in Uzbekistan.
International Day of Rural Women, widely celebrated on 15 October, aims to remind the whole world of the vital role of rural women in the life of our society, whose daily hard work ensures the well-being of mankind and its food security. Gender equality and the empowerment of women are central to FAO’s mandate to achieve food security for all by improving agricultural productivity and ensuring the full participation of rural people in decision-making processes.
Another significant date - World Food Day this year marks the 75th anniversary of FAO and is held under the slogan: “Grow, feed, support. Together. Our future is in our hands. " This year we celebrate World Food Day at an exceptional time when virtually the entire world is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. The date calls for global solidarity to help the most vulnerable in times of crisis and make food systems more resilient and resilient.
The competition among journalists in Uzbekistan was organized to widely promote the achievements of rural women in the media. The competition presents works published on television, in print and online publications of Uzbekistan. A total of 240 works were presented.
The jury of the competition included specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Association "Women in the Agricultural Sector", the National TV and Radio Company of Uzbekistan, and NAEMM. An important condition for the selection was that the materials submitted for the competition should fully reflect the role and achievements of rural women in the socio-economic life of the republic, existing problems and ways to solve them, the role of the fair half in the development of the village.
As a result, 15 winners were selected in the areas of "Selflessness of women in the agricultural sector" and "Women’s activity in the socio-economic development of the village." The owners of the first three places in each of the nominations were awarded valuable prizes, in addition, the authors of 6 works received incentive prizes.
