AvtoVAZ plans to localize car assembly in Uzbekistan starting from 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Russian automaker AvtoVAZ is considering launching automobile assembly in Uzbekistan under a local brand beginning in 2025, company CEO Maksim Sokolov told reporters at the “Innoprom. Central Asia” international industrial exhibition.

“Our goal is not only to restore cooperation with our successful partners, but also to move from simply exporting finished vehicles to a phased localization of production, including the potential release of cars under a local Uzbek brand,” Sokolov stated.

According to TASS, the Largus model is being considered for the initial stage of localization.

The project is currently in an active development phase.

Sokolov also emphasized that AvtoVAZ is exploring the possibility of implementing SKD (semi-knocked down) assembly for its vehicles.

“We are focused on deeper localization of the Largus model for the first phase. That’s why it is showcased at the Rostec booth, our main shareholder. However, we are also ready to implement a wide range of SKD-assembled vehicles,” he added.
