Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- AU has retained its place in the international Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking.
THE Impact Ranking 2022 was published today by Great Britain’s Times Higher Education, which specializes in covering important issues of higher education and is one of the leaders in assessing the quality of university performance.
The ranking is devoted to assessing the impact of universities on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), formulated by the United Nations for the period up to 2030. To participate in the overall THE University Impact Rankings, the university must participate in at least four SDGs, including SDG 17 – Partnership for Sustainable Development. The pilot ranking was released in 2019. In 2020, the ranking was published for the first time for all 17 SDGs. This year, 1,406 universities took part in THE University Impact Rankings.
In 2021, AU became the first non-governmental higher education institution in Uzbekistan to be included in THE Impact Ranking. In 2022, the university retained its place in the 1001+ group in THE Impact Ranking.
It should be noted that AU participated in 13 out of 17 SDGs:
SDG 1 – No poverty: 301-400 place
SDG 3 – Good health and well-being: 1001+ places
SDG 4 – Quality education: 1001+ places
SDG 5 – Gender equality: 801+ place
SDG 7 – Affordable and clean energy: 601+ place
SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth: 601-800 place
SDG 9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure: 401-600 place
SDG 10 – Reduced inequalities: 601+ place
SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities: 601+ place
SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production: 401-600 place
SDG 13: Climate action: 601+ place
SDG 16 – Peace, justice and strong institutions: 601-800 place
SDG 17 – Partnership for the goals: 1001+ place
It should be underlined that AU participated in six of the 17 SDGs in 2021.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 international cooperation goals that are planned to be achieved by 2030. The SDGs are aimed at strengthening the health of all nations, combating inequality, poverty, hunger and the consequences of global climate change, improving people’s access to education, drinking water, work and affordable energy, and promoting the ideas of social justice and peace. The list is developed by the United Nations.
