Attention - protecting the rights and interests of investors

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The role of international commercial arbitration in protecting investors’ rights was discussed the day before during an online round table organized by the Academy of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the Supreme Court and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dunyo news agency reported with reference to the press service of the CCI.

The event was attended by judges of the Supreme Court, professors and graduate students of the Academy of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Higher School of Judges at the Higher Council of Judges, Tashkent State University, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, senior officials of the Ministry of Justice, the Chamber of Advocates, and the CCI of Uzbekistan management of the apparatus of the AIFC Court and the MAC in Kazakhstan, representatives of the Enyo Law London law firm and the media.

At the event, legal scholars, leading domestic and foreign experts in the field of international arbitration made presentations. They touched upon such issues as the practice of considering applications for the recognition and enforcement of decisions of foreign arbitrations, mechanisms for resolving disputes between investors and the state and prospects for their improvement, current trends in the International Commercial Arbitration, prospects for the development of the institution of arbitration dispute resolution in Uzbekistan, the participation of lawyers in arbitration, the impact of COVID-19 on the fulfillment of obligations under international commercial agreements, the formation of the legal framework of international commercial arbitration in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the event, it was emphasized that international commercial arbitration in protecting the rights of investors is one of the ways for alternative dispute resolution.

The "round table" was held with the active participation of graduate students who asked questions to speakers about the problems arising in the activities of international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.
