Attempted Contract Killing of a Relative Thwarted in Samarkand; Suspect Detained
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement authorities in Samarkand have prevented an attempted contract killing, detaining a man who had planned to murder a relative over outstanding debts.
The special operation was carried out by officers of the Samarkand Regional Department of Internal Affairs in cooperation with the regional department of the State Security Service and the прокуратура области.
According to the investigation, a 24-year-old man, driven by a personal conflict and financial claims, decided to resort to extreme measures and hired a hitman.
To carry out the criminal plan, a decoy executor was used. The suspect reached an agreement with the supposed “killer” to eliminate his relative and promised a payment of US$2,200.
The undercover “hitman” later sent the заказчику photographs allegedly confirming the completion of the task, showing a staged imitation of a corpse.
The suspect was detained at the moment of transferring the agreed sum of money.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 97-25 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (“Attempted intentional murder”).
