Attempt to Smuggle Potent Medications Thwarted in Ferghana Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Ferghana region, officers from the operational units of the Customs Department, together with the Border Service, uncovered an attempt to illegally transport potent medications through the Ferghana customs post.

During an inspection of a HYUNDAI STAREX vehicle arriving from a neighboring country, 400 units of the drug MIDAKS, packed in cardboard boxes, were found hidden in the vehicle’s fuel tank.

The total value of the seized consignment is 140 million soums. The medications had been deliberately concealed from customs control.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 246 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and investigative actions are currently underway.
