Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 September 2021, within the framework of the official visit of the delegation of our country headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva to the Kyrgyz Republic, a meeting was held with Toraga Jokorgu Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Talant Mamytov.
During the meeting, issues of developing political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries were discussed. An exchange of views took place on the state and prospects of bilateral relations in the context of the development of inter-parliamentary ties, as well as cooperation between the regions and capitals of the two countries.
The Uzbek side informed about the results of transformations in Uzbekistan, positions on key issues of development of bilateral cooperation.
As the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva noted, open and trusting relations between the heads of our states constitute a solid foundation for the consistently positive dynamics of our cooperation in all areas. One of the vivid examples of the intensification of bilateral ties is the fact that over the past 4 years, mutual trade has grown more than 5 times and last year exceeded US$900 million.
In addition, attention is paid to interaction in ensuring gender equality, promoting joint initiatives, mutual support within the framework of international parliamentary structures and international organizations.
Toraga of the Jokorgu Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic T. Mamytov highly appreciated the socio-economic and socio-political transformations carried out in Uzbekistan, the efforts of the leadership of Uzbekistan to strengthen mutual trust between the countries.
He noted that cooperation with Uzbekistan is one of the priority directions of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy. According to him, Tanzila Narbayeva’s visit to Kyrgyzstan will be a good impetus for the further development of relations.
Speaking about inter-parliamentary cooperation, T. Mamytov stressed that interaction between parliaments continues to be fruitful. In particular, on the initiative of the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis T. Narbaeva, close relations have been established between women-deputies and women-leaders of the region.
The Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh agreed that they would take exhaustive measures to implement all the agreements that were reached during the negotiations between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The parties expressed interest in exchanging experience in the implementation of parliamentary control, establishing an exchange of experience in the field of lawmaking, active promotion of parliamentary diplomacy.
