Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- World experience shows that the transformation of the industrial sector, which implies the renewal and transformation of production in line with modern requirements, provides advantages in international competition. In this regard, the transformation of industry today is a priority for Uzbekistan. So how does this process proceed in the regions of our country?
The Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (IPMI) conducted a study to assess the technological transformation of the regional industry using the RCA and HHI indices. These indicators make it possible to determine the specialization and diversification of the industry of the regions.
According to the results of the study, in the first quarter of this year, there are positive developments in the diversification of production. This is due to an increase in the share of high-tech (computers, electronic and optical equipment, medical, pharmaceuticals, measuring instruments and apparatus) from 2.5% to 2.7%, as well as medium-tech (electrical equipment and apparatus, cars, chemical products and etc.) of products from 19.2% to 22.5%.
The city of Tashkent, Jizzakh, Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Andijan regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan were assessed as relatively developed regions in terms of the manufacturability of production.
According to the results of the first quarter of 2022, a significant part of the industry, more precisely 60%, is medium-tech production.
