Arts and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan Presents Roadmap for Joint Projects to UNESCO

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held between Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Arts and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, and Khaled Al-Anani, Director-General of UNESCO.

During the talks, a roadmap aimed at further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO was presented.

The parties discussed priority areas of engagement, as well as the joint implementation of initiatives put forward by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the opening ceremony of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand.

Particular attention was given to the restoration of historical monuments in Bukhara under UNESCO auspices, the expansion of cooperation in archaeological research, and the repatriation of cultural heritage assets. The UNESCO Director-General confirmed the organization’s readiness to actively participate in the implementation of these initiatives.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to prepare and sign a Memorandum on expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO.
