Artificial intelligence to be implemented in customs sector in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 March 2025, the President of Uzbekistan signed a decree titled "On Additional Measures for the Organization of the Activities of the State Customs Service Bodies and Further Improvement of Customs Administration" (PP-122), which outlines the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the country's customs operations.
According to the document, in 2025, the priority areas for the development of the customs sector will include the integration of AI, the improvement and enhancement of the efficiency of the customs authorities' information systems, and the optimization of the organizational structures within the customs service.
One of the key steps will be the creation of a Customs Clearance Center within the structure of the Customs Committee, which will lead to the phased closure of remote electronic declaration customs posts at regional offices.
Furthermore, a new specialized unit will be formed within the Customs Committee, responsible for implementing AI in the customs sector.
The tasks of this unit include studying international best practices in AI application, exploring technologies related to customs control and clearance, and continuously improving these technologies to enhance their efficiency.
